In Maryland, sudden torrential rain forced emergency evacuations at local elementary schools, while southern Texas remains under a heat advisory with stay-at-home warnings. Meanwhile, parts of Montana and Wyoming are under travel advisories due to unexpected snowstorms.

In Allegany County, northwestern Maryland, up to five inches of rain fell in a single day, triggering flash flooding and prompting a state of emergency. Rescue boats were deployed for multiple evacuations. At an elementary school in Westernport, approximately 200 students and staff were evacuated by boat to a nearby church. Another school in Lonaconing relocated its students to a nearby high school.

Cities like Austin and San Antonio are experiencing their longest and hottest spring temperatures on record. Several cities in North Dakota have broken all-time spring heat records, with some locations seeing the hottest temperatures in over a century.
